It is surely because of the network. They restrict this because for a while there Napster downloads were eating up 90% of the available bandwidth on their lines.

I can tell you that you probably will not find a way to get around their blocking of these downloads. If there were, it would be all over your campus and they would just change the way they block.

Hi,
This is simple go to your local P.C store and buy a "USB Wi-Fi LAN adapter" should be about £15, connect it and install the software it came with, this should enable you to link into the Internet through a Wi-Fi connection near you. Then download a Program called "NetStumbler" and install it, when you run this program it will show you all the open & close Networks you can get onto in your area or at your campus. hope this helps, if you need any help to set it up please contact me.

Talk to your campus IT support and ask them if they allow iTunes or other legitimate music download services. Universities are blocking ports used peer to peer clients because they don't want to get sued by the RIAA.

You are using their network, so you are under their rules. If they say you can't download music, then you can't download music. If you do find a way around it temporarily, it will be blocked sooner or later and you might have your Internet priviledge revoked.

Sorry but if it is the network, you will have some trouble trying to bypass it.
