ping is same as lag..high ping equals high lag

actually ping is the amount of time it takes for a small packet to get from local departure from your computer to remote destination on gaming server..

if you have high ping to a server all the time you should find another server with 50ping.. get dsl or cable modem and play on servers that are close to your location and your pings will get lower..

LOWER PING =BETTER

PING - packet internet grouper. It sends a small peice of information to another device (computer/router/server) to see if that computer can connect to the pinged device. The PING is run through a command prompt and is followed by what you want to ping, whether it is an IP address, a host name, or even a website.

Ping is the amount of time it takes to send one packet of information to a server and receive it again. The higher the ping, the more time it takes and the worse connection you have. If you have a bad connection, it causes the game to be choppy and laggy. Always connect to servers with the lowest ping and you shouldn't have a problem.

A ping, is basically an analog sound sent out to another PC, the time it takes to reach that PC and come back is the ping time. Slower Internet connections have high ping times, because its taking longer to get the ping sent out and returned......
What you need is a faster Internet connection to get a lower ping time, this isn't something you can manage......
If your using wireless Internet, try moving closer to the router to increase your signal, the best way to go is to connect to the router with an Ethernet cable, this will eliminate signal loss and really improve your connection speed, "lower ping time".

Ping is a tool that sends a small data packet to a specific IP address. It waits for a response and displays the results.

You can also use tracert to see where the packet goes (hops) to get to the IP address.
