season. If you were doing the scheduling for the NBA would you schedule these breaks and how often would you schedule them? I know they help teams by giving injuries a chance to heal and giving the players some badly need rest so I think they would make the whole season more interesting and would bring more teams into playoff contention.

Dallas is on a huge winning streak right now. This will cause a huge target to be placed on their jerseys. Every team wants to beat them, and will play their best game against the Mavs. This break does several things - On a positive note, it lets the team rest, recovery from injuries, and sharpen skills during practice time. The time off can also cause a loss of momentum, and could slow down the Mavs.

I think they deserve a break, no doubt. But maybe not 4 days. That could be too long. There is a huge difference between game speed and practice speed. Too much time away from game speed is a bad thing. I would schedule shorter breaks more often in the season, and they would be consistently seperated. This would allow teams to rest and recover from injuries, while never losing their "flow".

This is a perfect break, because it will help Dallas to relax a bit more. This 16 game win streak is getting to them a bit because the last three opponents have really taken it to Dallas, whereas early on in the streak, Dallas was winning by a big margin.
