The galaxy came way before Earth, we're talking millions of years if not billions. Earth was formed by a star gone supernova, the matter from it gathered together and formed a rocky, volcanic planet. It got caught in an orbit of Solaris, and has been rotating the Sun ever since.

The egg came first as all chickens come from eggs [but the very first ones would not have been 'conventional chicken' eggs], if evolution is true then the ancestor species before the common chicken (the species of bird would have been much like the chicken give or take a few minor differences)gave birth to mutated offspring, which survived in the egg and brought forth the first chicken.

the chicken question is a display of the human mind malfunctioning.

there was no first! lol humans love to make everything neat and tidy with beginnings and ends.. but there was no first.

i know this sounds like a really simply answer thats avoiding the question, but trust me, its correct.

think about it... we have an organism that has changed a tad every few hundred thousand years, and when exactly do you draw the line and call it a chicken? the "line" is arbitrary.

there was no first.
at any point in the history of the organism we call a chicken, if you were to choose one to call the first, its parents would look exactly like it ... and so on all the way back until it looked nothing like a present day chicken...

this question seems to have no answer because it assumes there was a first.

in reality things are not segmented all nicely like we try and think... its just that the time scales are so large its hard for us to imagine.

so the question is in fact invalid.

and i dont get what you are asking in the second part...
if you want to know if the earth was here before the galaxy, no, it wasnt... but i suppose one could say it was developing at the same time as the galaxy... it all depends on how exactly you define the words earth and galaxy.

these questions are a perfect display of how the vast majority of philisophical questions are in fact problems with language, and not actual philosophy in my opinion.

In the beginning there was light and that light turned into a form and that form turned into an particle and that particle turned into minerals and those minerals turned into mass and the mass turned into the whole galaxy. Then one day a big meteorite hit a planet that we now call earth (this planet earth had different minerals) and all the minerals from the meteorite and the planet earth smashed into each other and created a reaction that made a kind of oily substance and it sunk down into the big mass and friction from the earth being shifted from the deep impact caused fire and the whole earth was on fire like the sun but it soon died out on the outside because of the different air but the fire sunk deep into the core of the earth and it remains there still. After the air in the earth's atmosphere started cooling off something happened in no other atmosphere, moisture started appearing and formed clouds and the moisture from the clouds became rain and the earth was now filled with water. The warmth of the water and the different minerals created kind of a slime which turned into plant like things and when the plant like things floated from the water and shored up on dry spots it became rotten and created ubiquitous one-celled organisms. Those organisms lived in the water and multiplied and became larger in size. Soon there were strange looking creatures in the waters and some came out of the water and became air relient and then there were air creatures that slowly evolved into flying creatures. Then somewhere in there we became and here we are today.

Well, that's just me and my way of thinking. I'm not a scientist or anything lol.

That teacher Sir karl Popper said that the first was a kind-
of-Egg(and this will do for me too). He also Strongly suggested other more worthwhile choices,if ur interested.

And of course,i think he would say that no one should have-
to "compete" with the first answerer who replied "God".
That reason should be known, so i wont give it here.

And that the first question may have led you to the 2nd one-
i think its likely that we do only Speculate on these matters;
(of course, this IN NO WAY implies that i or anyone else
are free-to-believe a scientist or group of such, who happen
to prove(say, tomorrow)that it was the egg or the chicken.
With evidence,naturally!
For, our western history shows that
its likely and even natural that that theory could well be changed and superceeded; even within a short or long time.

(my preference, for what its worth,is that speculation is o.k.
- as long as it doesnt distract us too much from the real
problems here on earth,Eg the melting of the Icecaps, poverty, world law-and-order and the like. And an
interested person in ALL this could do no worse that study
the work of that wonderful scholar mentioned above, too).

The egg. Chickens are a product of mutation. Something else laid the egg, a chicken came out of it.

The galaxy came first. The Earth formed from coalescing matter orbiting the Sun.

Wow loaded question:
earth is part of the galaxy no one knows at this time how old earth is . also in time they will find that we are not only the only living planet.
The egg came first . all thing on earth have evolved from mixed living things . Like the cat and dog were one animal mated with other animal's and evolved into dogs and cats .

If you believe the bible, then the chicken came first--created by God.
No one else will ever answer this question satisfactorily--you have to have a chicken to produce and egg and only the bible has the answer to how you get that chicken in the first place.
