I am about to make a booking for 7 friends and I to go and see a west end show but cannot decide what to book. It is between the following: Billy Elliot, Sound of Music, Dirty Dancing and Wicked. Has any body seen them? What were they like?

Depends on the age group and sex of your friends.
All the shows you listed have got good reviews so it comes down to a matter of personal choice and the type of musical you enjoy. I have seen Billy Elliot, and thoroughly enjoyed it, but it is quite gritty, and has some bad language, which may put some people off. On the other hand the Sound of Music is quite traditional and family orientated.
Take a look at theatremonkey.com - this site gives reviews of all London shows, and also tells you the best seats to buy and to avoid. Hope this helps.

I've seen Wicked 4 times and am anxious to see it again. I can't wait, however, for Billy Elliot to come to the US. If it's for you and several gal friends, Wicked is a great choice!

Billy Elliot definitely, it's for all ages. I doubt you'll get 7 tickets anywhere for a few months. Most musicals are booked up in advance

Have seen Billy Elliot. It's great.
Almost everyone I know has seen Wicked. They all say it's amazing.
Really hard choice!

Well, ive only seen the ones you said on tv, but if you ask me, nothing beats the phantom of the opera at her majestys in london, though i think there is a long waiting list for this if you see it here. Sorry, i cant help further. But from the tv versions, it would have to be dirty dancing for me. I just love the songs. They just made the film so successful, so the stage show should be fantastic!!

If your a young group go see Dirty Dancing. If your older, the The Sound of Music. They are both great.
