my car is new, my coolant reservouir is clear so i can see my coolant level but with the car cold its sitting directly on the low level but when i start the car and drive around about an hour i look again and its full. i dont get that. does that low line mean low when the car is warm or low when the car is cold?

Usually the markings on the recovery tank are calibrated for running temp or warm.

The coolant will expand and contract. As long as you're in the low/high range it is fine. With the engine cold it should be at the low level or a little above.

There are 2 readings one is for hot when you have driven around and the engine is warm the other is for cold for when your car has just been sitting parked.

well first of all a reservoir is only gonna fill up when the engine is hot and the coolant is split into the reservoir by your radiator cap, so when your radiator heats up and air expands when it does and it will, you'll have coolant in your reservoir, your reservoir is just another place to store hot coolant...

When you drive and the fluid gets hot and expands the excess gets dumped into the reservoir and when needed the engine sucks it back in.

its fine friend.whats it doing is when it get hot the cap releases the pressure and flows into the reservoir,and when it cools down,vaccum pulls it back into the radiator.that way the radiator stays full all the time.no,theres nothing wrong.its working proper.
