Yes, I know. My husband has a fit every time I call 411.

The 800 directory (800-555-1212) is free of charges, but the only drawback is that it's good only for getting 800 numbers. If you wanted the number of the local movie theather down the street, you couldn't get it from toll free directory assistance.

One thing though--you DO still incur airtime charges for calling 800 numbers on your cell phone (or they take it out of your block of minutes--whatever type of plan it is you have).

Yes. The reason is that 411 is something outside of the phone service, and the phone services are actually being charged for those calls. Of course, I'm sure they're making a profit off it, too.

i just text google. i dont have to call anyone and i get the number in less than 30 seconds everytime. SO EASY.
