I watched the movie and I don't understand a few things. The father raped the daughter. Things at the end make sense. If you go back to first half, how did the movie explain it when everybody saw the girl was smacked around her face in her room? No one tied her up, her feet were off the floor. It was not a dream and everyone saw it. That's my biggest question mark.
The little girl who she saw at school was her childhood. I wasn't so sure about the meaning either. Her father did go to the woman who was claimed to put the curse on the family but she said she didn't. What was going on with that part? Many people said there was no demos but how do you explain what happened in her room to her. She was thrown around the room like what other ppl saw.
In the end, coming back to real life, the mom was chasing after the girl and her man in the car. Why was she so sure that her man also molested her daughter? I didn't see any indication or implication.
I did enjoy the movie.

Yes the father had been molesting her, and she was being haunted by it, while there was no one actually able to be seen harming her, I think it meant that it was in fact herself in a way, because she wanted her father to see that he had been hurting her, and while he watched his daughter being tormented because of what he'd done, he felt very bad, and tried helping her, and was repeatedly hurt also, because that was the point for him to realize he'd done wrong..
The woman that everyone thought was a ( Witch ) told him bluntly that she did not put a curse on his family, that he had in fact done it to himself, by having taken advantage of his daughter.. The mother pieced it all together when one of their maids found covers that belonged to her daughter out in the woods, and they had blood stains all over them.. And she thought back to times when she had awaken in the middle of the night, to find her husband gone, she actually caught him by her room late one night, and he told her that he slipped out of bed often to ( walk around the house ) and that she had never noticed his absence before..
The thing with the family in today's time, was that the mother saw the girl's ghost that had been molested by her father, and she realized it was a warning for her own daughter..
If you pay attention as she is running out of the house at the end her daughter gives her a sad look as they are pulling away, I took it as the daughter did not want to go to her fathers because he molested her too, that's why she had re-occuring nightmares about the girl walking in the woods and such..
I paid attention to the movie, therefore I had to explain it to my sisters, and everyone else I watched that movie with..
It was well planned out.. Good movie, sick plot!..

In that movie when the father raped his daughter that created a ghost of the little girl. And as it's ending if you pay close attention you'll notice the narrator says that it was a ghost made from innocence and hate which caused the ghost to haunt the family. It is confusing. The part where she saw the little girl in school that little girl is supposed to represent her innocent side when she was still a virgin. When the father went to the witch and she said it wasn't her, that whole scene was meaning to Tell you that the father put the curse on himself and she didn't do it.
Hope from what I explained you get the story. It was a really good movie.

Her innocense was the ghost or demon that was haunting her and it was her fathers dream. Her mother saw him rape the daughter and so they were poisoning him with the medication. And at the end the reason the mom ran after her daughter is because it is said that if you see the girl then there is molestation going on. So the whole movie was a dream her father was having.

I totally forgot about this movie. I had the SAME exact questions about the film. Do you have it on DVD? I would recommend watching to Commentary and listen to the director's view. I didn't like the movie because things didn't add up.
Okay, I really like the answer that is above mine.
I guess how I am thinking. Why should the audience have to concentrate on every detail of a horror movie? It's a scary movie, not a psychological thriller where you have to pay attention to everything. You know? But I like that answer!

The basic answer to your question is that the girl was molested by her father and created a poltergeist (sp?). When a young girl has a horrible secret like that, her energy can come out and create a "ghost" type of thing. That is what was causing the harm to the girl. There wasn't demons, but she created a "being" that hurt her.

There really was a haunting....of her father. All these things actually happened to her...the fathers punishment was that he couldn't help her......as it was his fault in the first place.
The mother was sure because her daughter started to see or feel things(haunted).

I saw that movie too and thought it was an excellent movie. I think when the Witch casted the spell, she open up everyones eyes, to let them see what was going on.
