Let it dry out completely then water it with plant food. Make sure it's getting enough sun. See if it comes back. If not, I believe it just might be dead.

I'm afraid you're talking of a different kind of plant here. Corns are a seasonal plants. They don't survive forever. Once they bare fruit and seeded they'll die. That's their nature. Grew, mature and die.

Whatever your plant is, I think it's dying. If the branches are still green in the stalk cut them out from the mother trunk and cut the base that you think is dead or dying. If you still have enough of the plant stem left take a jar of water and put your leftover plant into the jar and leave it there until it'll rooted or otherwise die (keep changing the water though with lukewarm water). You said the trunk is still okay then just leave it in the pot without the branches but make sure to just have the soil moist and not too soggy otherwise it'll rot. Hopefully it'll give you new shoots. Good luck!

I would replant in bigger pot and put fresh soil on it cut it back and see if it is just root bound I have houseplants 15 years old and ever few years I have to go to bigger pots and fresh soil. I do not feed them water them or anything for a few days they will go into shock after replanting and a bigger pot I wait a few days to water and a few more days to feed. The fresh soil has nutrients it will not starve. I also find as seasons change I have to move around to get best sun exposure and of course shade.

I've never heard of a corn plant I've heard of "corn on the cob" or corn stalk. If this is what you are growing it will die or turn brown to a golden color. It means it's time to harvest or the corn itself is "ready".
