I have a lot of old music on cassette tape. I like all of the music on the tapes, but they take up a lot of space. Should I keep them, or trash them ?

I would convert them. You can get a cassette drive for your computer that will allow you to turn the music into MPs and then you just burn the mp3s onto a CD.

Definitely. Just put them all in a liquor box. Also, I can testify to the durability. I have left 50 cassettes out in the car to suffer through every climate, which is in my case, as low as 25 F. in the winter up to probably 120 F. in summer, whereas the car sits in direct sunlight with the windows roll up. Mine play fine nearly all the time. Only A few snarl, in which case I break the tape and fish it out of the player, salvaging the
player.

what I would do is see if I can get the music on CD and get rid of the cassette. After a while the cassette will not play well any way .

Keep them unless you can find them on CD.

You might want to try converting them to a digital format. There are lots of computer programs that allow you to record/rip from cassettes to you computer. Or, you could hook up your tape player to a CD burner. Either way would work.

I've got a lot of cassettes that I haven't gotten around to ripping, but I'm not going to get rid of them until I do.
Too many 'memories... of the way we were...'
Sorry, cheesy joke.

Keep them! I've got tons of music on cassettes that I couldn't find on cd or iTunes. I did find a neat gadget on www.thinkgeek.com so that I could change my cassettes to mp3's for my iPod.

cassettes can't take up that much space....

and do you really want to part with that part of your past?

besides if your that strapped for space you could always get rid of a chair or something and get a sturdy box you can store them in AND sit on, its killing two birds with one stone that way

Trash them. You could try selling them to a used CD place, you won't get much but it's better than nothing

I am going through the same dilemma and I have decided to stash them under the bed for one more year!
