Some people have nothing better to do. Some just like to hear themselves "talk." The majority, IMO, like to feel superior.
It's a shame grammar has taken a down-turn. However, in most cases, you can tell what a person means when you read their post. No need to correct.

One can play "grammar teacher" without being rude about it. I think what bothers some of us who have a love of the English language, and are more careful in our writings, is the fact that so many others on the internet only have a harder time of it because they don't care to take the time to learn how to write correctly.
I am the last person to call another dumb. But with the onset of the internet and email becoming as prevalent as it has, you'd think that it would increase the literacy of those around us. It seems to have done just the opposite. Created a shorthand of the English language that has no comparison for anyone not involved in instant messaging or text messaging.
When you don't take the time to proofread what you've written it can also show that there's no thought behind what you've said so why should anyone listen to you?
I never correct anyone in public but I will admit to secretly twinging everytime I see incomplete or run-on sentences, paragraphs with no punctuation and mangled spelling of words. If you want people to take you seriously, then take what you write seriously and proof it before sending.
Okay, sorry, guess it bothers me more than I thought.

Speaking only for myself, I only do it if the question is in some way offensive. It's often a fun and easy way to bite back.
It's especially rewarding if the question is posted by someone who's completely in love with themselves and their perceived intelligence.
I used to be a lot bitchier about it, but I learned from others to focus on the message, not the delivery.

The way people use language is evolving into something less civilized. Grammar nuts don't like that change. So they are trying to change one person at a time. I don't like the abbrevs. all the time but I deal with it. The abbrevs. help me, 2!

Probably because most of the questions on here are submitted by teens and OBVIOUSLY, the schools must no longer teach spelling and grammar! I'm not one to complain however, it does get annoying sometimes.

We're just getting sick and tired of seeing questions with every other word misspelled. It makes it hard to read the question and understand what they're asking. By the way, you only had three minor grammatical errors in your question, so you're not at all one of the worst offenders!

Why exactly is it you have a hard time? Didn't pay attention in class, most likely.
I realize that most people who speak using poor grammar are not unintelligent (or as you put it, "dumb") -- they just sound that way to those of us who take pride in ourselves and our ability to speak correctly.
Have a nice day. :)

they like to feel superior to people since they are obviously sooooo inferior socially. I don't care what they say they obviously need to take some xanax and chill out!
