And so it is, sadly, with environmentalism. Increasingly it seems facts aren't necessary, because the tenets of environmentalism are all about belief. It's about whether you are going to be a sinner, or saved. Whether you are going to be one of the people on the side of salvation, or on the side of doom. Whether you are going to be one of us, or one of them.

Considering that any questioning of global warming is viewed as heresy, I would say that it's the closest thing the liberals have to a religion.

Environmentalism is not a religion. It is perhaps the only logical and rational perspective for humanity.

Call it an ideology, but does it not make sense to care for the planet that we live in?

You may not care about your home, but you do care about yourself don't you? Any damage inflicted on the planet would ultimately affect you.

Anyway, keep driving your Hummer if you own one. Don't listen to all those scientists (what do they know anyway, right?). Don't believe in Global Warming and don't support environmental legislation. The planet could care less, really. After all, it's only us pesky humans who would be irrevocably damaged by it.

The planet has survived eras much tougher than the precarious reign of the human race. I am sure, it will continue to rotate on its axis and revolve around the sun long after we eventually perish from our self-inflicted wounds.

"La-la-la," says the Urf.

Caring a bout environment is a moralistic belief in the roots of all monolithic religions, hence it is part of religions not necessarily a religion.

It's a belief system. I suppose it could be considered one, but I'd also suppose in order for something to be a religion there would need to be a chruch or general building used to discuss belief system.

When did Crichton ever have any facts on anything? The man is a fiction writer. He's so ill informed in fact, that he as come out and said that you could safely eat DDT. And, that second hand smoke doesn't hurt you. LOL, and lunkheads like yourself still believe him on global warming based on what? He hasn't done any tests himself or research. He's a charleton that's it.
Question for you is, why do you feel so threatened by environmentalists? Why do you feel threatened by scientists who study this issue and have proof of global warming happening and being caused by human involvement? What possible reasons do you have for fearing this? I find that people who fear this message very phobic if not downright irrational and shrill. What is wrong with wanting to preserve the planet for future generations. What's wrong with wanting clean air to breathe and clean water to drink? What's wrong with wanting to prevent a global collapse of resources? What's wrong with actually loving the home we call Earth? Why are people like you so hell bent on mass suicide for the sake of oil profits going to the oil cartels and the middle east?

It is not a religion, however if you are a Christian, you would know that God gave us only one earth to live on and he expects us to be good Stewards. You have to ask, are we doing the best we can to be good Stewards????
