ok, i'm not a gaming n00b, and i'm starting to save for a next-gen system. everything i've read says that the ps3 is better on paper (which is does seem to be), but the 360 is better for actual game play. all of the graphics reviews say that the ps3 has SLIGHTLY more detail. but graphics come after game play obviously. i havn't really had a chance to play either of them, the 360 a little bit, but nothing on the ps3.

from people that actually own these systems, which one is better overall, taking into account gameplay and game selection?

Well I have played both, I have a PS3 and my friend has a 360. (Not problem with playing PS1 or PS2 games on it)

X-box dose have a lot of games out but remember it had been out longer and has a head start on the PS3.

Each have their own little pros and cons

I would say for game play and game selection

As of right now 360 for game selection cuz they have had time to release more games and for game play a lot more to do like shoot over things while taking cover.

I would not under estimate the PS3 They will come out with a ton more games.

I like my PS3 and I would not trade it for a 360 or Wii

But most of all it all comes down to you and what you like

There are

PlayStation fans

Xbox fans

and Nintendo fans

I would do some research on each system and see what one is best for you.

Some say that the 360 is better if you like a lot of online features. It is for now but this fall there's a new thing for the PS3 coming out called Home. See my source for more info on it.

Another major argument against the PS3 is that it doesn't have rumble. But Sony has settled their lawsuit with Immersion and it will have rumble later on.

There's been a lot of rumors that the PS3 is bugged and doesn't work well. That may be true because Sony got sloppy while it was trying to ship them before Christmas. But even if it is, the PS3 has a one-year warranty.

As for graphics, they are the same

But here's what truely seperates the systems. The power switch and the reset button of the PS3 are TOUCH ACTIVATED! How cool is that? It makes all the difference. 360 doesn't have this and it never will.

I own the PS3 and ahve played the 360. The PS3 is alot better because it has so much more options and things to do. The online services are free and don't charge you. It has blu-ray technology. You can download so much for it. The controller is motion sensitive but doesn't have the vibration anymore. The only thing the 360 has going for it right now is the game choices. Thats going to change soon because at the end of March is when PS3 games are really going to hit the shelves. It's got the new Grand Theft Auto coming out along with the new Metal Gear game. The list keeps going on and on. I would seriously consider the PS3. If you have any more questions you want answered hit me up and I'll be happy to help you.

The ps3 is better on paper, and thats really all you can compare, other than game selection. As of right now, the 360 has more and better games, (1 reason being its been out a year already)

However, I got a ps3 because I think it has better potential in the future. With the blu-ray disks it can fit a lot more game on one disk, and sony's always been good at nabbing exclusives and providing continued support.

There's what I think, now go get your ps3.

the xbox 360, i say, is still the dominant system of all of the next gen consoles. it has the hi def capability like the ps3 (though maybe not AS high def), and the graphics are great when hooked up to a hdtv or not. xbox live is also a great plus, being able to play your friends online, which the ps3 also has its own version of.
but id say the main facotr would be game selection. thats my deciding factor. 360 has an immense library of games, franchises, and so on. the ps3 may eventually get more games on the market, but for now, the xbox has it beat.

Hands down, the PS3 is the far better machine (in quality, capacity, and features)! The X-box 360 had a year start on the game library, so they have far more choices at this point, but half of them suck and in no time PS3 will have an equal number of games available, with a far better game quality record.

Xbox 360 without a doubt. the guy above me is crazy when he say that the PSN is better then Xbox-live what a joke. Good one by the way. But if you don't believe me just check out the library of games coming out for the Xbox 360 compared to the PS3. That would be a good start in making your decision for what system offers you the most for what you want out of a gaming system.

PS3. Remember it's an entertainment system, not just a gaming console like XBOX
