AWKward Reunion With Friends?

What would you do if your friends that you haven't talked to in 4 months call you up suddenly? That just happened to me and it was really awkward. If another friend calls up like that, what can I do to avoid awkwardness?

We were never that great of friends. If ever there were a bunch of "plastics" at my school, they were them. Super bubble, too sweet, insisted on being friends with everyone.

The only thing you can pretty much do is say Wow it's been so long--it's good to hear from you. But that's only if you want to talk to them.
