Last night I saw My Chemical Romance in concert and I will admit I wasn't a fan. I got a free ticket and thought might as well check them out! I was familiar with Helena and Ghost Of You but hadn't heard their newer stuff.

Does anyone know the inspiration for "The Black Parade" or even what their songs represent?

I read somewhere that the Black Parade is to represent the emo/goth kids- see? "black" - they dress in black, so a whole mass of them would be a black parade. Maybe that's not how they wished it to be interpreted, but I kind of liked the sound of that. The lyrics match up to the interpretation too:

A world that sends you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all.
So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Defiant to the end we hear the call
To carry on
