That's tricky!
The Great Wall of China can be seen from the International Space Station in Orbit.
The California Water Project that links all the rivers and estuaries with canals can be seen by the International Space Station.
The Highways of Belgium at night can be seen by the International Space Station due to all the lights space evey 500 yards along the roads.
Largest structures - How High?, How far away can they be seen? That is the really the question that needs to be asked first.

While I suspect that as a child's school question the answer they are looking for is, as many have answered, the great wall of China, the following leads me to believe that it may not have that claim.
This would really have to be a damning comment on the impact of the human race on this planet if the biggest structure we have created is a pile of refuse.

Question: What is the largest man-made structure in the world?
Forfeit: Great Wall of China, Pyramids of Gaza,
Answer: The Fresh Kills landfill site, Staten Island.
Notes:
Opened in 1948, the Fresh Kills landfill site (named after the dutch word “kil” meaning small river) soon became one of the largest projects in human history, eventually trumping the Great Wall of China as the world’s largest man-made structure (by volume).
The site is 3000-acres in area and, had it stayed open until its planned closure, would have grown to be the highest point on the Eastern Seaboard. As it is, after its closure in 2001 its peak was 25m above the Statue of Liberty. Under local pressure, the landfill closed in March 2001, only to be opened again to cope with the enormous amount of debris created by the destruction of the World Trade Centre. It is now completely shut down, restrictions mean that it should not legally be able to re-open (no landfill site is allowed to open within NYC limits); the site is currently being renovated as parkland and a wildlife facility."

Great Wall of China
Estimates of the Wall's length vary. The Chinese refer to it as "The Wall of Ten Thousand Li" (a "li" being about 1/3 of a mile). The distance from the eastern end the western end is usually put at about 6,000 kilometers -- slightly more than 10,000 li -- as the crow flies. But people can't fly; and to actually walk from the length of the Wall's twisted path through northern China would be much further.

Well, what is being used as how to scale "large"? Could mean by mass, height, length, or most intricate. Considering it meantions childs school, that answer would be the great wall. But, what about, say, the telephone lines transversing the ocean? Pipelines? Wiring? Road networks? Or sewer systems. Actually, i would have to say the network of landline phones. "Structure" does not neccissarily mean single object.

It depends on what you refer to by largest (tallest vs largest mass)
Below is a link for both tall structures and largest mass (scroll down to that specific section on the page).
And for those who talk about the Great Wall of China being visible from space / the moon, please read the third article.
I hope this helps.
