OMG! I had this same problem in my first pregnancy. Everything I read told me I was supposed to be having appointments every 3 weeks after hitting 28 weeks preggo. My doctor said no... So I switched doctors. The first question I asked when I was looking around is how often I can come in for appointments. His answer was, "Whenever you want... you can have them every week if you want!" If you don't feel "special" or comfortable with your doctor, SWITCH! You'll definetly be happy you did.

It's not too late, but be sure to research the doctor that you're switching to. Some docs do not accept certain kinds of insurance after a certain point in the pregnancy. Be sure not to fall behind in your prenatal visits during the switch, even if it means seeing the original doctor a couple more times before the new doc can get you in. At this point in your pregnancy there are several "tests" that are done that can only be done during a short time window. If you miss the appt. the new doctor will not be able to perform those tests. Please be aware while considering switching that the doctor you choose may not be the doctor to deliver your baby. Many hospitals and doctors have an "on call" system. This means that which ever doctor is on call will deliver your baby. If this matters to you be sure to ask your doctor if this is the case. Good luck to you, I hope all goes well for you and your baby.

it truly is by no potential too late to locate a doctor you believe. it truly is a huge experience on your body and each 2d of it you ought to have a honest physician to call with questions and concerns. Do what you imagine is ideal for you regardless of the week of being pregnant you're in. I switched at 24 weeks and may want to no longer were happier with my decision!

I"m 22 weeks pregnant and I changed doctors at 19 weeks!! I had a low-lying placenta and was stressed over spotting and my doctor didn't give a flip! he wouldnt even explain to me what it was.
I switched immediately! my new doctor is AWESOME .. there is no problem switching.
You just have to go to your new doctor and sign a medical release and the old doctor will send them all your records. Totally simple .. and well worth it!
Having a child is a huge thing .. you need to feel comfortable with your doctor!!

good luck! God bless!

I switched at 30 weeks, so it's never too late to switch. I felt the same way about my old doc, she was just a family practitioner, and I switched to an OB at 30 wks and I feel SO much better about having this baby. You will probably have to sign a release form so your new doc can get all your records. Good luck!

I wouldn't want to unless I was having problems like you seem to be. During pregnancy #2, I was forced to change docs due to the practice closing. I was 30 weeks along at the time and scared to death. Ended up with a great doctor who went on to deliver 3 of my kids. If you are not happy with your doc now, how do you think you are going to feel during labor and the delivery? Get some recommendations from friends who have recently delivered and go from there.

NO WAY!!! If you're not comfortable with the dr you have then SWITCH!! I was 34 weeks pregnant when I switched doctors. Just make sure to ask them when you call. My first doctor was horrible and I was soooooooooooo HAPPY when I switched. You have to do what you feel comfortable doing!! Good Luck!

That is exactly when I switched OBGYN's in my first pregnancy and it worked out great. It is important to feel comfortable with your doctor before the birth. Keep in mind, you still have plenty of time to bond with a new doctor because your visits become more frequent as the pregnancy goes on so you will spend more time with the new one that you have with the first one.

Good luck with the birth!

It's never too late to switch doctors, especially if you aren't happy with the current level of care. Good luck to you.

I didn't go to the doctor until I was about 20 weeks. It might not be to late but I would check with the doctor you want to go to before to see if they will accept you.
