We live in Texas so it would be an easy flight. I am looking for something with a lot to do other than just the beach.

All the Palace resorts are wonderful for a honeymoon. Right now they are including free excursions in their All-inclusive plan.
Some of the things you can do is a snorkel tour in Puerto Morelos, they have half day and full day tours.Check out Snorkel Adventure Tours
Visit the Eco-Parks Xel Hal or Xcaret. Take a ferry over to Isa Mujeres (island of the woman) rent a golf cart and tour the island.
Go to this site. Very informative. It has many hotel reviews that visitors post. I love this site. A wealth of information to be found.

I stayed at the Grand Mayan. It was amazing! The pool was worthy of a 3 day visit. Very romantic too. The beach was not as thrilling, man made and rocky in the water. You feel secluded at this resort, which was nice. The drive to Playa was only 20 or 30 min by cab. From Playa you can take a bus to the Tulum ruins which is very cool. Cliffs, beaches, Iguanas, history, etc. About 40 min form the resort will take you to Cancun. I did not like Cancun. Way to touristy and vulgar local at the market places.
All in all, it was fantastic and I totally recommend. In fact, we are going back in August.

Hey i had my honeymoon in cancun, @ the camino real on the tip it was fantastic,,,,cancun it right ther pal....there is so much to do and you can drink the water and go see some unreal sites and at the same time there is a planet hollywood there and all the mayan ruins very close,,,rent a taxi for the day its better then the tour buses way better

hi buddy, you are able to flow for the duration of your honemoon time the perfect places in North India those are - Shimla, Mussoorie, Jaipur, Rishikesh, Kullu Manali, those all are genuine-rated places for North India for honeymoon time . i favor to signify you if you're plan your holiday in this season then you definately can flow to Shimla because of there is heavy Ice Fall. so that you'll experience reliable on your Honeymoon time . thanks Agliena Eve

Try the Riu Resorts. Not only do they have cheap prices, but they also include things to do in the area that you plan on staying.
