I noticed two of my corys have a sections of fin/tail missing. One is missing a strip on his tail and another is missing a chunk on his dorsal fin, this one has also been lying still(more than usual). Firstly, Does this sound like fin rot? How should I go by treating this?

The missing pieces arn't ragged, but clean chunks.

Fin rot usually looks very ragged and soft. The fin edge is discolored and frankly rotten looking. If this describes what you are seeing then odds are good it's fin rot. If there are just missing peices of fin, it's much more likely to be damage that will grow back.

To treat fin rot you will need to first do a large water change (about 50% is good) and remove the carbon from your filter. Then treat the tank with Furanase or Maracyn for 10 days.

This will kill your beneficial bacteria in the tank and you will need to cycle the tank again once you are finished. Watch out for climbing ammonia levels as you treat as well.

EDIT: Since they aren't ragged, that is more likely damage from other fish or objects in the tank. It should grow back without any problem, but watch them for a few days and see if you can figure out what happened.

it doesnt sound like fin rot. it has every indication of AMONIA.
change 1/4 of your water every 30 days. FROM THE BOTTOM 1/4 OF THE TANK with a siphon.
symptoms of amonia are--fish lose appiete- due to overcrowding, overfeeding, recent tank cleaning, reduced water flow.
there are no treatments.- other than changing water as i just explained.

sounds more like they are nipping at each other & losing part of their fins in the process.
