Not hooked on soaps, no. But sure, it's hard for me to pass a tv when I'm walkinmg through the house and not stay a little bit to follow an interesting story. My husband has a harder time controlling how much tv he watches, however. Was this explained in "Men are from Mars..."? I was hoping someone could explain it to me.

I guess you are not hooked on Soaps like most women????

Then there is Oprah and Dr. Phil and the View and all the other "Chick Shows" that are on all day!

So at the end of the day if us guys like to grab a beer and watch some TV we should be allowed to!

For a million years or so men were out chasing down sabertooth tigers and spending days or weeks alone. Women sent that same time dealing with the other women which is why women communicate more and men watch the tube. It entertains and he doesn't have to respond to it. And you wonder why men don't listen or respond.

This is an overbroad generalization.
Let's narrow it down a bit.
Why is watching t.v. much more important to your husband than you? It's not a venus/mars explanation. It's a you and your husband generalization. Let's explore:

Your husband is probably not inspired and therefore he brings nothing into the relationship and therefore you have nothing to reciprocate back to him.

Maybe they get better TV receptions on Mars and possibly little or no TV on Venus. lol

Niether myself or my man watch much TV at all and when we do, we watch the History channel, or Forensic files on Court TV, or discovery channel or a movie.....he likes to watch the news too....we are usually too busy for television.

More important? No. But, what else do you expect him to do if you aren't suggesting anything. Personally I'm content kicking back and relaxing while watching some TV and if my girl doesn't ask me to do anything else then I'm not going to do anything else.

I hate television. My wife loves it. I only watch South Park and Heroes, and only because I bought my wife a TiVo for Christmas, and I can watch the shows at my convenience and without commercials.

I think your generalization is, as most are, way off.

It's a good way of tuning women out who talk incessantly.

Good question...
Good observation..
Surely someone has done a government funded study on this...
