When they call, ask them to take you off their calling list. It works in California, because it is a law. If you don't want to be called by any federal, state, or company, this is all you need to do.

https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx to go to the national site. NY is included int he national list. You do not have to register for state list if you live in NY.

Just put in your browser register for no call list , they'll ask where you live. Be sure you get the U.S government list.
