OK, since he knew he would get caught, 17 years later he pays parking tickets. So, since he knows most Amercians find it a vile, disgusting, sickening habit only for the weak, he vows on 60 Minutes to quit smoking. What is next? How much more will come out (I mean other than his drug dazed undergraduate years he admited in his book.)

WHO CARES???

I hide the fact that I smoke and I'm just the average girl next door. Why? Because it's a nasty habit and most people who do it aren't proud of it. That's doesn't make them any less of a person or, in this case, any less of a candidate. He wants to quit, give the guy some credit.

Owing years of parking tickets in Chicago? Have you ever lived in Chicago? People paper their walls with those things. So he smokes, big deal. If he quits, great for him and his family, everyone should quit. Can you say exaggeration? He wasn't "drug dazed," he did drugs once in a while, like many college kids have done. At least he didn't say "I smoked but I didn't inhale," or refuse to answer whether he had ever done cocaine like Bush. He acknowledged what would clearly be an issue, and he did a great job of it. My 17 year old son, who hates drugs, admires him greatly for being truthful about it and rising above it. If you want to bash Obama, you're going to have to do better than this nonsense.

You see, what I'm guessing is that Obama did the smart thing. He had a member of his staff do opposition research on him and that person found his unpaid parking tickets. So he paid them.

Guess what, I probably have an overdue library book that I would return and pay a fee for if I decided to run for office. Am I suddenly unAmerican or did I forget I had an overdue library book? I guess that depends on which political party I'm in.

And to the person who is talking about the stock issue, please get your facts straight. I recommend reading the entire article sourced, not just the parts you think are damning.

Our current president used to do cocaine (in his youth), and struggled with alcoholism until very recently. I don't think parking tickets are an issue...

Also, another answer said that Obama is a Muslim. Obama is actually a Christian. His father was Muslim. So what? Are you saying we should stop trying to convert people in other countries to Christianity because if their parents weren't fundamentalist Christians, that they can't become Christian?

The Bush family *supported Hitler*. Does that mean that President Bush jr or senior supports Hitler? Ofcourse not.

As far as skeletons go, I'm guessing that we will hear that he is not a very good Christian and such.

I don't think not paying parking tickets is enough to refuse to look at a person who wants to run for president. Most presidents, whether made public or not, have had far worse habits. Smoking is stupid, but not illegal. I hope you are not another one who thinks spending taxpayer money and time to try to impeach a president for playing around on his wife is OK. Social morays dictate that that is something between a man and his wife. That would be Hillary. You have looked at all of her decisions and all the things she has done. Does she really have the morals to stand up and represent our country. . .you. . .me? I don't think so. All these little things are not what is important when it comes to who will run our country and what they will actually do. We've had so many bad decisions made for our country, I think we need to look very closely at who we vote for. I only hope that the powers that be will allow someone with some good decision making abilities will be allowed to run. We need some drastic changes or we will not survive. Very shortly we will not be the most powerful nation in the world. We have allowed ourselves to be sold out. The stupid politics need to stop.

Nothing else will come out; he was smart enough to put it all out there in a book before he planned on running for President. So it won't be like finding out about Bill Clinton's sexual prowess or George Bush's alcohol bouts after they became President. He did the intelligent thing; put it out there in the beginning so there won't be any surprises. What you see is what you get!

I like that its just a parking ticket and not a DUI or a husband that sleeps around.

BUT I would look forward to future Obama news suchs as:
OBAMA and Oprah are having an affair
OBAMA bought 4 boxes of girl-scout cookies (he's addicted)
OBAMA sleeps Naked
OBAMA smacked Hillary
OBAMA bitchslapped Hillary

Bush's skeleton closet is bigger than his freaken head yet, dumb a** Republicans still reelected him. Republicans are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites. I would rather have the coup in Thailand control the House.......Obama will be president and will finally change the face of the American president. So, either get used to it or move back to Europe.......

problem im seeing is that people expect politicians to be 100% perfect. abe lincoln once said "men with few vices oft have few virtues". true dat. guys that seem too perfect usually end up with some really freaky skeletons in the closet. few parking tickets, used to smoke, no big deal. drank too much in college, so what? stole a few street signs in high school? who cares? thats what NORMAL kids do growing up. I would rather elect a normal guy than some holier than thou type any day.

Are you somehow under the impression that other candidates haven't ever smoked or gotten parking tickets? Wow - wake up and smell the coffee, bub.

I guess you must be REALLY appalled at George W. Bush's history of cocaine use and DUI arrests, no?
