Hi,
I'm trying to find examples in film, music video or wherever, where time has been stopped, or people have been frozen right in the middle of something...
(we get a sense of this through perspective, a moving camera (rather than a just freeze frame))
Often the this technique is just done 'in camera' (rather than using special FX in post production) by getting actors to stand very still.
A nice example can be seen near the end of Buffalo '66 where Billy shoots the sleazy strip club owner. I also briefly saw something like this in an episode of The Twilight Zone once. But I'm sure there are many examples...?
Ideally they'll be one person still moving around, whilst everything else has stopped.
If anyone can suggest something and if possible the specific moment where they saw it that'd be ace. All suggestions welcome!
Thanks.

I am willing to bet that the episode of "The Twilight Zone" you are referring to is "A Kind of Stopwatch." It's about a guy named Patrick McNulty who gets an old stopwatch from an unknown old man, and this stopwatch is capable of stopping time. He has fun with it at first, but he abuses its power and pays for it.

The Matrix(s)- in the first Matrix, when neo and morpheus are walking through the street, and the computer guy freezes everybody from motion. Also trinity jumps into the air, kicks and holds a pose, whilst the camera swings round.
And well i dont think people actually get froozen, but the camera techniques in 'Flying Daggers' are amazing, the way the camera follows the arrow shooting through a forest.

I know a good example. Watch the movie Big Fish by Tim Burton. There is a scene that takes place in a circus where everyone is moving and all of a sudden time stops and the main character is still walking around. It's a beautiful scene and even the popcorn flying in the air stops and he goes up to it with his finger and knocks it down! great movie. I hope this helps.

i know this is cheesy but Over the hedge kinda had that at the end of the movie. Time didn't stop but the squirrel started moving so fast that every thing else seemed to stop. Also The One with Jet Lee. Also the show Heroes on NBC has a Character that can do that exact specific thing his name is Hiro.

For some reason the first thing i thought of was Gavin McGraw's music video for "I don't wanna Be". The video consists of a girl (Shiri Appleby) walking around a party, while everyone else is still. She even begins to take other people's things (i. e a scarf i think) and puts it on.
That's all i can think of right now...

there's a movie called "clockstoppers" that has the stuff you're looking for all over. what really happens is that they speed themselves up faster than the speed of light so everything else looks like it's frozen, but the camera effects you describe are all there.

They do this at the end of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. When she uses the triangle she stops time and turns the knife around so it hits the bad guy instead.

Big Fish (one of the best), X-men, Harry potter, the TV show Heroes seems to do it every episode.
