I am so sick of new hip hop...well not all...I mean I like non-mainstream hip hop...Atmosphere, Mos Def, Talib, Common, etc....
Can someone name me a few albums that I should get?

Well it doesn't have to be totally conscious, I mean Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, and Ready to Die are obviously dope albums.

There is a group with a myspace page, they are called Dirt Coalition, they have a very positive vibe about them and they are incredibly intelligent rappers and musicians. They also have many friends that they have performed with who have similar messages and equally good music and lyrical skills.
Once you listen to them and analyze their lyrics, you would never have guessed that they are from Portland, ME.
I hope you enjoy and tell them Brigman sent you. They will know what you mean.

Zap Mama
not limited to hip hop, soul, world beat or acapella , this is a world class band who is unique, extraordinarily gifted and talanted, appeals to all cultures I would think, also depending on the songs easily can fall into numerous genre's, their lyrics are deep, this is music that that can do something that is rare and thats appeal to a few generations at the same time, and at the same time top charts,
on the album" Ancestry in Progress "these two songs are my favorites
1. yelling away- (you'd probably recognize the artist who does this song with Erika)
2. Bandy Bandy
read a little about the groups origins and history and you'll feel an even deeper awe
I bet this group will make superstar status

DEFINITELY pick up "Black Dialogue" by The Perceptionists (on El-P's Definitive Jux label) -- conscious and political some, too.
The Roots (of course) -- masters of the organic hip-hop. I've been loving "Game Theory" (and "Things Fall Apart," "The Tipping Point," and "Phrenology," not to mention all their older albums).
De La Soul is always good in my book. Don't know if they'd be considered "conscious"' hip-hop, but definitely good. A classic group, and their "Grind Date" album is banging.
I'm also a BIG fan of "Blazing Arrow" by Blackalicious. Classic sounding yet highly inventive and original. A very underrated masterpiece (IMO, of course ;)

I FEEL YOU ON THAT!
You need to go back in tha day for the good stuff....
Some of my Classics -
Digable Planets (both are good), The PHARCYDE (labcabincalifornia), Freestyle Fellowship is DOPE!, Aceyalone ( All Balls Don't Bounce ), The Roots (everything they have EVER made) Outkast (ATLiens)
If your into that type of Hip Hop, try another Genre like Neo Soul ( Goapole, Brand New Heavies, Amel Larrieux, Musicsoulchild, Jill Scott) It might surprise you

Try De La Soul's album "Grind Date." And Nas's latest album. Also Matisyahu is kind of interesting. And of course, you should have A Tribe Called Quest, The Anthology. Oh! And The Roots. Anything by them, really.

I savour his singing, yet i does not in all probability call it good by using any stretch. I agree however, it somewhat is the main relaxing wakeful/political album i've got heard simply by fact it balances it somewhat is matters from the heavy stuff (Like Rock N Roll & New international Water) and the conflict form sh*t (Do It Now & be responsive to That). it somewhat is purely s good mix of the two without banging you excessive with an schedule.

Lupe Fiasco, Food and Liquor is good. And I really recommend Jay-Z's Kingdom Come he has great songs that aren't offensive to women or violent. There both great albums.
