okay i started looking on the internet for the answers, but i decided after looking around that i might ask for everyone's experiences and suggestions. Today i went to my 35 weeks appointment and the doctor said i had some protein in my urine. also that my blood pressure was a little high, but they rechecked me after leaving in the room for a few minutes to just sit and no talking and it went down greatly. (121/65) anyway they think i might have preeclampsia. well i know what preeclampsia is, but i would like to know about everyone's experiences with preeclampsia. i want to avoid a csection so if i have it, i want to try my hardest to make sure i can vaginally deliver (ill have to deliver next week if i have it) because i have to do the at home peeing in a jug for 24 hours which i will do next wednesday. and they already told me that if i get headaches or blurred vision to go straight to the ER. anyway does anyone have any advice to give me about this to help calm my nerves& curiousity

well the doctor said they havent established whether i am or not. but if i am, she said they will induce labor and let me have the baby possibly next week (36 weeks) and they wil do everything they can do let me have her vaginally. i havent been given any medicine and i wish i knew to watch my salt intake before ijust had mcdonalds french fries LOL. but since i dont eat alot of fried, salty foods, i doubt that bit will affect me that much. i normally eat very healthy. wheat bread fruits, vegetables, ect ect. and i dont add salt to anything except eggs which i dont eat much. but thanks for the advice so far

I was diagnosed with it at 32 weeks with my twins. Bedrest will help some. But sometimes there just isn't much you can do. Its more common in first pregnancies and doesn't mean you'll have it with subsequent pregnancies. Try to accept that you may not be able to do a vaginal. If things don't go like you'd like, a section may be necessary to prevent risks to your own life. Best of luck to you.

I was diagnosed with preeclampsia at 26 weeks (but I'd actually had it since 22 weeks), and it became SO severe that I had to have an emergency c-section at 27 weeks.

Like you, I eat very healthy and I don't even like salt, so it's not like I could cut out the salty fried foods from my diet since I didn't eat them. Basically, all I could do was TRY to relax. I was on strict bedrest since 25 weeks. Have they put you on bedrest yet? I also wanted to have a natural childbirth...but didn't get that. I didn't even get to experience labor pains! I'm actually bummed about that. =P

All I can suggest is the same thing your doctors probably told you: Watch your salt intake, watch your diet, try to stay off your feet as much as possible, and RELAX. Don't be around people or situations that upset you. Nothing I did helped me, but my case was so severe. Even if you had your child at 35 or 36 weeks, your child has a much higher chance of survival and will most likely be perfectly fine. 36 weeks isn't even considered premature. But nevertheless, I wish you a healthy pregnancy and delivery and a happy and healthy baby!

Watch your salt intake as you're already water logged if you have protein in your urine. Luckily, you can pee for 24 hours and collect it at home. I was hospitalized three times for 24 hours to be watched closely as well as hooked up to a fetal monitor. Also, relax and don't overexert yourself! Be aware of your fetal movement and count how many kicks your baby is doing every hour. Of course, you'll have times where your baby isn't moving at all (probably sleeping), but if four to five hours goes by and you don't feel any movement, contact your doctor as your baby is in distress. Also, I hope that your doctor put you on some medication for your preeclampsia, as if your blood pressure doesn't go down, and the proteins in your urine don't subside, you just may need an emergecy c-section to get that baby out! Thankfully, you're almost to term (36 weeks is term) as I delivered a 4lb. 7oz. baby at 34 weeks gestation due to preeclampsia symptoms.

Preeclampsia is scary and the doctors won't mess around if your blood pressure gets any higher or if the protein in your urine goes up. If you begin to see flashing lights or if you have a headache go immediately to the ER or the Labor and delivery floor....I have had preeclampsia three times. Twice I was able to deliver vaginally and I had a c-section 7weeks ago...I was only 28 weeks and he was breech and my BP was 187/137......

Do your 24 hour urine test, try to stay as relaxed as you can and get everything ready if you haven't already.

I hope everything goes well, if you have any questions, you can e-mail me! elesha0@yahoo.com

Whatever you do please do anything and everything that your doctor tells you to do, also if you feel that something is wrong go to the E.R immediately. My best friend had preeclampsia and the doctor didn't listen when she told them that she didn't feel well and she lost the baby and almost died. I am not trying to scare you but this a serious condition. I also know of another woman who had preeclampsia and although they had to monitor her blood pressure constantly, she was able to deliver vaginally and everything was fine. Just be very careful. Good Luck with your new baby and I wish your family the best of health.
