Should they change the way the voting system works for American Idol?

Question

For some reason, the really terrible singers keep making it through, even though people do vote for their favorite singer...its not enough sometimes. Like how on earth did Chris Daughtry get kicked off when he did last season?

Should they start having the judges giving scores to them like on Dancing with the Stars and that counts for half of the votes and the voters count as the other half?

because for some reason, some of the good singers will be kicked off again tonight and the really bad ones will stay around for awhile.

Or perhaps limit the number of times one can vote from that landline phone? I know some shows do that so it allows other people to vote and not to tie up the lines.

there was a show...i believe it was "fame"...a singing and dancing competion show...and you could only have 3 or 5 votes...and i voted the one night...and i called in again...passed the number allowed...and they wouldn't let me vote anymore!!..so their system actually worked!

I agree! Chris Daughtry should have won that, period. He's in a different league above the others.

Reasons why good singers get voted off in lieu of the no talent wannabe's:

- www.votefortheworst.com. Read it, and you'll understand the underground cess pool that surrounds each competition.

- Tweens who vote on every available phone in the house at the same time, for the full two hours, just because the contestant is "sooo cute!" (If you could have only seen the mass hysteria among that crowd over the Brady bunch guy last year)

- Pity votes. There seems to be some people who feel compelled to take a moral stand and defend the underdog at all costs. (Maybe making up for their inner child)

- Media buzz. Whether some think so or not, they are influenced by what Simon, Nigel, some messageboard,or any other news source says about a contestant and take it written as the AI Bible and go on to preach the word through the telephone.

I think, especially because of that site that is deliberately skewing the votes, that they should make it based on internet vote only. One vote per IP address, and proxy servers not allowed.

The Dancing with the Stars system is good too, as I tend to agree with Simon about everything he says - I trust his judgement for half the vote. It doesn't matter how they change it, it just needs changed. Bring back a competition based on talent, not who has the most phones, the most persistence, and the most time on their hands to vote.

I think they should limit how many votes people can make from their phones...

but American Idol thinks people are impressed by how many votes they get....

some people have these automatic dialer devices that can keep dialing over and over....

I tired voting once and I couldn't get through.. I tried throughout the whole two hours.. not constantly mind you but enough times.... I finally gave up...

I agree. And I like the idea of the judges' votes counting for half and ours counting for half...because obviously the American public doesn't know what the heck it's doing!

I think they should allow voting online, and limited each person to voting just once.

For a while now I've had a feeling that American idol is fixed! & everytime a new season comes out it makes me realize that it is fixed!

they should boot american idol off television. i vote for that
