Oh gosh. I definitely own....... no piece of land will ever OWN me. Ok granted it takes work to keep up a house, a yard, landscaping, plumbing, cleaning, painting...... and toss in laundry oh and a few pets and a couple of kids and it can "sound" overwhelming.

But all it takes is planning..... organization...... and sure, a little bit of time, effort and money. But NEVER let it be the controlling factor in your decisions. At that point..... you're just making excuses. I mow weekly during the spring and summer, get my kids to help me weed, mulch everything really well twice a year and BAM..... it never seems to overwhelming. As for the house........ I have chores I divide up into two. I do them every other week. That way the house is always half way clean *wink*. But seriously..... it always looks just cleaned. Mostly cause when my kids were little we just rules about picking up and cleaning up after yourselfs. So they take showers..... and wipe down the tub. We finish cooking, and wipe the kitchen down. Anyway.... just organize yourself...... and the property will never own you!

Don't allow property to own you.Organize, schedule and compromise are needed to make you own the property.
I don't understand when people cry about not being able to go on vacation because
"nobody is there to take care of the house".
How long will you be gone anyway?Cut the grass when you get back,or whatever maintenance you have to upkeep.Stop whining and start living.
I own a condo and have not much to do with the cutting grass and cleaning gutter aspects ,but if the inside gets a little dusty ,so what? It's my place and I clean when I want to.Not that I am a slob,my place is clean, most of the time.
You don't like it,don't come over
I most certainly own my property.

The bank and the government own my property. They allow me to live on it as long as I make the monthly mortage payment and pay the property taxes. No one in the USA ever TRULY owns their property. They are leasing it from the government. Even if your property is paid for free and clear you STILL have to pay the taxes on it every year. If you don't the government will take throw you off and take the property so they can sell it to some other poor unsuspecting soul who can then begin paying them the taxes on it. THINK you own your property. Stop paying the government and see who really owns your property.

I own certain things, others own me and it is inescapable. Material things I own...some non material things like certain feelings, sometimes own me...like when I give into my anger or sadness or a great moment and it completely owns me and I give into it willingly.
