Its all to do with prime factors:
prime factors of 12 = 2*2*3
prime factors of 18=2*3*3
the highest common factor is the number with the greatest number of prime factors common to both numbers (ie 2*3 = 6)
the lowest common multiple is the number that includes all of the prime factors from both numbers (ie 2*2*3*3 = 36)

factors are 2 and 6 and 3 and 6 6 being the greatest common
least common multiple from 2, 3, and 6 = 36

The answer is B. 12 and 18.
12 = 2²*3
18 = 3²*2
and we see that the GCF is 6.
The LCM is therefore 12*18/6 = 12*3 = 36.
(The LCM of 2 whole numbers is their product
divided by their GCF.)

i think its B. greatest common factor for 12 and 18 is 6 and the least common multiple of 36 is two which is the same for 12 and 18. ....i think its right

Take 6 and divide it into the pairs of numbers and the only pair it can divide into both numbers is B. So without checking LCM the answer must be B.
