Hello Jane. First thing you might like to try is freezing it off, then with a blunt knife scrape off, There will be a mark left 6 the way to get rid of this is to whip the white of 1 egg and pour on top of the stain leave like this for about 10 min´s, then with tepid water and a sponge wipe clean. Then take some of your own hair shampoo and again tepid water & sponge clean the carpet . Make sure you get all the suds out then lay a towel with a heavy object on top , this will help dry up any water from the underside of the carpet leave like this over night, then let dry with natural air. If you have a humidifier this will help take the water out too. You might find that at some time or another you will have to sponge the carpet again as sooner or later the water mark will reach the surface. Hope this helps.

attempt to scrape away as many of the gum as obtainable, employing a spatula or spoon. next, vacuum or brush up any loose products left. If there continues to be some gum clinging to the carpet fibres, rub a plastic bag crammed with ice cubes over the section, until the gum fragments freeze. you may now chip them gently away employing a spatula or spoon back. ultimately, you may dissolve any very final lines by using dabbing with dry-cleansing fluid and then blotting dry, accompanied by using a answer of ¼ tsp easy washing up detergent and a million cup water, earlier rinsing thoroughly. in case you're extremely having problem, do not panic - any commercial carpet purifier with a warm water extraction unit (steam purifier) would be waiting to do away with the gum, even no remember if it somewhat is an previous stain - you may continuously call on them as a final hotel.

You can try a product called Goo Gone its a solvent it might work just try it in a spot on the carpet that you cant see first just in case it damages your carpet. Most of the time its OK and wont hurt the carpet. Just put it on a rag and gently rub the gum keep reapplying the Goo Gone and turning the rag.

Take the scissors to it. You could try a bag of ice to freeze it and break it off but it will take forever.

If you are in UK, go to Homebase/B&Q/Wickes--- plumbing section, get a pipe freezer cylinder (I know Homebase have) Use it to freeze the gum, then crack it off.
