Has anyone ever studied either of these? What is it like? What did you want to be? Where did you study it at? Thank you.

English it's the top names everyone knows well: Oxford, Cambridge, St. Andrews, etc. It's a standard course that's pretty much everywhere.

I know people who studied Journalism, not a great subject at British Universities.

I did a summer course at the London School of Journalism, and I can recommend the summer course.

Some journalists at BBC actually did journalism degrees, near the place where they work. So, if you want to work in Bristol, study in Bristol. Some only did HNDs in journalism. Other than the BBC though, I don't really know if it's worth it.

According to the Guardian University Guide, the best universities for journalism are:

Surrey
Brunel
University of Central England
Westminster
Ulster
Portsmouth
Robert Gordon University
University of Central Lancashire
Nottingham Trent
Sheffield Hallam

Note: the older universities (Cambridge, Oxford, Durham etc) don't do journalism.

The most important thing is to get lots of work experience: submit articles to your school/college/uni paper (or even set your own up!), ask your local paper for work experience etc
