I'm not a fashion expert, enthusiast or anything like that. But that matrix look is freaking awesome! All black, military style cargo pants, tight acrylic shirt, long trench coat, with some cool *** sunglasses, I think he even had a pair of dock martins boots.

Just super cool......Now no one else can wear it! Its like a freaking costume now, you can't take a step without people making a matrix comment or stare at you like you just came from a star trek convention...lol

Damn you Keeanu! Now no one can wear it! The nerds have taken it...........lol maybe I'm a nerd for thinking its cool. Like in that movie Grandma's Boy.

I think what makes the Matrix look so appealing is that the films do a great job of ignoring how silly real people would look if they dressed like that. Consider those nerds who have "stolen" the Matrix look from would-be cool cats such as yourself. What reason do they have for looking cool?

In The Matrix, everyone is dressed black and with sunglasses because that is their "residual self-imaging." In the "real world" of The Matrix, on the ship, everyone looks like a beggar.

Thus, The Matrix provides a reason for looking cool that you just can't replicate in reality. And when you try, you start looking like those nerds. But hey, who cares? Why not fantasize for a while?

I think what you mean is that Keanu Reeves originated the current emo look. Just like he originated the late 80's/early 90's slacker costume when he played Ted. Apparently, Keanu is the emo-slacker trendsetter.
