Aaron Beck, M.D., is one of the leading researchers in the area of cognitive-behavioral therapy. Any book by him, such as "The Feeling Good Handbook," will outline his ideas. If you look up Aaron Beck on Amazon, I am sure there are books on applying Cognitive Behavioral principles to couples therapy.

However, one of the leading researchers in the area of couples therapy today is John Gottman, Ph.D. He has written several books, but one of the best is "Seven Principles to Making Marriage Work." It is not cognitive-behavioral in the strict sense of the word, but very commonsense and based on real research (unlike, for instance, John Gray's Mars and Venus books). And, it is written for the general public, not just for professionals.

Hope this helps.

Isn't that an oxymoron? You are looking for a self help book written by someone else. Just a thought. Perhaps you could meet up with people going through the same things you are going through. I would find that more helpful than reading someone's opinions in a book. Thank you.

One good book is "10 days to Self Esteem" (same author as the "feeling Good handbook). It is a self-help book and not a couples book, but has a relationship implications, since helping yourself with improve relations.

It is better that you go to the library, and select from their wide variety of such books. You will probably get a lot of 'one book' suggestions on 'Answers'--but then it will be you who is losing out--by not reading more than one author.
