I am a 14 year old female and I have really bad knees! Unfortunatly for me bad knees run in my family and i happened to be the only one out of my mom's 4 kids to get bad knees. My knees dislocate all of the time and they dont go back in themselves, so i have to pop them in myself. They pop out at least once a day, if not more. I dont know what to do to make them not pop out so I was wandering if there was anything you all could think of to make it so either they dont pop out or they dont pop out as much as they do now. Is there anything that you can think of to help me out here?

Last Wednesday I was in P.E. class and my knee gave out and i fell and twisted my ankle and I mess it up pretty bad and I lost complete feeling in my foot and i cant feel anything and when i try to move it nothing happens. I went back to the hospital for that and I stumped the doctors and they dont know what is wrong...because they said i didnt brake anything so this shouldnt be happening. So they refered me to an orthopiedic doctor and I have an appointment with them on Friday, tomarrow, and they are going to do some nerve testing to see if i have to get surgery on my nerves and get them fixed. And they are going to see if i need surgery on my knees. The doctor at the ER said something about them either putting a metal plate in my knee joints or putting pins in to keep my knees in place. The thing with my foot and the feeling loss is that they have done everything to see if i can feel even a little bit of pain. They stabbed my foot with a needle and they squished my cuticle! NOTHING!!

There are vitamins for joints that you could take. I also have bad knees and they seem to help me a little. I would also suggest going to a doctor.

I has a similar problem. It was years before I was able to do anything about it, because I had to wait until I was "finished" growing. But I had two seperate simple surgeries two years apart. They were outpatient procedures and each time I was back up on my feet within days. There was hardly any pain. Talk to your parents and then you orthopedist. You need to take care of this quickly. The more it happens the harder it is to fix and it makes it less likely that you'll be able to walk without pain by 40. That's no way to live. I don't mean to scare you... You can fix it easily, just do it sooner rather than later.

Also try ace bandages. You want to use a wide one as opposed a narrow one. Don't criss cross behind the knee, that gets irritating and it isn't going to help your knee cap stay put. Criss cross OVER the knee cap itself. It's really confortable and allows you to maintain a relatively normal range of motion.

Whatever do you, try not to take a million pills for pain and whatnot, you'll just get used to it and then there's more problems to deal with. You may want to consider a chiropractor too!

Good luck.
