who would win a fight to the death, a gorilla or bear?

Gotta go with the bear-at least if it's a grizzly...He would outweigh the Gorilla by about 1300-1400 lbs and he has long claws than a gorilla doesn't have... A gorilla is a strong sob but a 2,000 lb bear would be too much.

The gorilla because it also has great strength and relatively better manoeverability than a bear, and also has a gift for self-recognition which hints at a considerably higher level of intelligence. Gorillas can recognise a strange mark painted on their face when looking in a mirror; they touch the mark and invetigate it using the mirror. Other animals do not do this.

I'd think the bear has more brute muscle to bring to the fight, its teeth are bigger and it has sharp claws.

The gorilla is not a fighting animal. It has no claws. The only weapon it has are its teeth.

To use teeth, you have to come in close.
So the bear has a longer range weapon (claws), and is more powerful.

So it's bye-bye for the poor gorilla, but I'm glad I didn't bet my money on him.

Depends on the species of bear. A black bear or brown bear migh loose, but a grizzly or polar bear would definitely win.

My money is on the bear -- they are fast and well equipped
to tussle. Especially the grizzly
