I must admit I've always been a playstation fan, but I have played on my friends xbox plenty.

Technically, the PS3 is better. Far and away more powerful. (However this won't be realised and clear to see for another 6-12 months - programmers need time to get proficient in programming for a new console.)

Graphics therefore will be better on the PS3.

The xbox as I understand is meant to have a very good xbox live feature - dead handy for playing real people online, and no-one (in the uk anyway) has had a chance to test the PS3's and see how it works.

Another point to note is that very very few games are set to come out on just one console anymore. A couple will (e.g. xbox's halo and other company specific ones), but most of the best ones will be on both consoles, so gameplay needn't really be an issue.

The xbox will also be more available and cheaper, so if you're looking to get one now, xbox may be your only option.

Brand loyalties aside, I think the PS3 will be the better console - especially in a years time and from then on. Well worth investing in - plus it comes with a built in Blu-ray player (The extra money you have to pay for the add-on that lets the xbox360 play hi-def movies, makes it the same price as the PS3 anyway!!)

I hope that's helped in some way.

P.S: The post above mine is doing one of those advertising spams (as I'm sure you know). They're never real.
