You can take the baby outside to breathe some fresh air, definitely. However, taking baby out to public places like stores, for example, is not recommended until the baby is at least 30 days old (because of the weak immune system).

Make sure that the baby is dressed apporpriately when outside, and is protected from sun/heat/cold. Babies should wear one more layer of clothing than you are wearing, and should not be in the direct sunlight.

Congrats on the baby and hope you enjoy your walks together! :)

Yes, just make sure to dress the baby accordingly. In warm climate, the baby should wear the same amount of clothing you are comfortable in. Baby's don't perspire for a few months, so don't let them get too warm. However, in warm climate, remember to bring a blanket in case you go in an air conditioned car or building. In cold climate, the baby should have one more layer of clothing than you because they don't have enough fat on them to keep them warm enough yet. Also, baby's can't wear sunscreen until 6 months, so make sure to keep them out of the sun, and if there are any mosquito's or insects where you live, you might want to buy a baby net that goes over their stroller to protect them from bites.

As long as it's not absurdly cold (here in NY, it's 25 degrees, which is absurdly cold IMO) where you live, going outside for a SHORT walk around the block or something is fine - as long as baby is dressed appropriately for the weather. Don't take the baby to the mall or anything like that where all kinds of people (and their germs!) will be breathing all over you both - neither of you needs to get sick!!

There is a myth that you can't take your baby outside for the first 2 weeks to 2 months. It's just a myth! Make sure your baby is dressed for the weather and don't let other people touch your baby because you don't want any germs spread to him/her, but my OB said it best, "If you couldn't take your baby outside until it was 2 months old, you wouldn't have been able to bring him/her home from the hospital!"

Where do you live? If it is cold, then no. If you live somewhere where it is 60 degrees or more, I would say yes. Fresh air won't hurt the baby. I had a baby in August and had the baby outside when she was a week old. Just keep her away from germs and sick people.

The baby i safer outside rather than at a store or public place with germs every where.

I would say to protect the baby's skin from too much sun.

I took my son out for brief periods at a time.

yup. Make sure they are bundled warmly and the carrier is covered. If you're going in the car, warm the car up beforehand. Then uncover the baby when you put them in the car so they don't get too warm.

I started taking my son out 2 days after he was home.

yes!!! i took my baby boy outside when he was only 5 days old, but not for very long. they DO have to go outside when they leave the hospital right??? As long as they don't get prolonged sun exposure and there are no extreme weather conditions it should be ok.

Of course! Its acually better for them rather then being in the house all day. Just make sure you arent around a huge crowd because they can get sick very easily, and bundle him/her up if it is cold outside. Remember dress them how you are just one layer more!!Good luck!

Yeah, but make sure the little booger is covered with layers of clothes and a blanket, at the very least.
