I think LaKisha has a great chance. She has so much talent. I also think Melinda Dolittle is fantastic, and she's not exactly skinny (not exactly fat either). After Jennifer Hudson getting an Oscar, I think...in this case anyway....that size doesn't matter.

I don't think it really matters, as long as they have the power onstage to put on an awesome performance. There have been some contestants who can't dance well or even move around much onstage because of their weight. The only thing that makes up for it is a great voice, and then I think they can win. Also, there's always the possibility that they can lose weight once they start touring.
LaKeisha sure looked good last night. I wonder if she's lost a lot of weight or just was dressed best for her body-type. Last season, Mandesa had a really good voice, but I wondered how far she could go in the competition. This year, I would be glad for LaKeisha if she won. Her attitude seems good, and that's surprising and makes me want her to win.

It mainly depends on what the majority of the population want.
There was one plus sized female that made it to the top three (Kimberley Locke). She appeared on season two and faced stiff competition from Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken. Many feel that if Frenchie Davis were allowed to stay (she was ousted for a pornography background during season two) that she could've easily won.
Simon Cowell, (judge on American Idol for anyone who might not know) has a history of making comments on female contestants weight. I don't recall him ever talking about Ruben's weight?

well if you noticed ruben studdard is not skinny whatsoever and he won i dont think people vote on the talent anymore they vote on the personality because in my opinion Ruben and Clay both sucked and Kelly she is good and she has a big career but mostly it is a personality contest which make american idol pretty much fake and a waste of an hour on TV i only watch the auditions because i think they are hilarious but other than that it is just a waste of space, time and money

Well as of right now about 90% of the best female singers are plump. So, if a woman wins this time she better be plump. Besides what about Reuben Studdard he was really plump. It shouldn't be about size but talent. But many Americans seem to vote out of popularity. I hope the best singer wins this year,

Yes, fat people can do pretty much anything these days.
However, if you are a fat girl on American Idol, you MUST keep your clothes on at all times or face geing kicked off the show for being fat and naked (see Frenchie). If you are skinny and attractive and naked, American Idol will support your nudity (see Antonella).

Who cares if they are a bit overweight. Don't call them 'fat'. Imagine how it makes them feel. I know a few people that are overweight, and their feelings can really get hurt by the mean comments.

Yes, if people stop being so shallow by voting on looks, rather than singing ability. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the majority do - since Antonella is still here. Lord knows it isn't for her singing.

like it or not appearance matters. Oh sure the fat ones will go fairly far but when it comes down to it, they won't win. America don't mind fat men but when it comes to women they had better be cute and thin or no thank you.
