Turn off the main electric power (very important if you don't want to get electrocuted) and you should be able to remove the fan cover with a screw driver.

Then disconnect the two wires leading to the fan.

Now you have a choice; you can completely remove the fan motor, or cover the wires with electrical tape and move them completely away from each other. This way you can easily hook the fan up again if you choose to.

First get a helper. Second, get some form of two way communication,(phone or walkie talkie). Then, turn on the light, go to the circuit breaker box, (fuse box) trip each breaker in turn. Your helper will tell you when you tripped the correct one. Leave the circuit breaker tripped, go to the bathroom, pull the fan fixture down disconnect them and tape them. Put the fan back on and turn on the breaker.
