Assuming XP home - restart and start tapping the F8 key. Start in safe mode. Go to control panel > users > select your normal logon and reassign a new password.

Restart into Safe Mode. Press F8 before the Windows logo appears. Use the up down arrow keys on your keyboard to select Safe Mode and press Enter.

When Safe Mode loads, select the Administrator account to reset your password.

Or you can use net user XXX *, where XXX is your user name in Command Prompt.

Go to Start > Run and type in cmd

In Command Prompt, type in net user username *

If your username has spaces, put them in quotes.

For example:

net user administrator *
net user "Tan Ah Seng" *
