I think that I do. But sometimes in a large company there are so many people that it seems that they happen everyday. My old office would combine all birthdays in the same month and celebrate them all on a certain day. That way you weren't getting fat from all the cake.

Well in
Asia when i worked there it was up to the birthday person to pay and spread the cheer around .If it was your birthday you buy all your friends lunch and bring the cake Only you know what you spent and if you don't like to fuss then you don't , if you like extravagence, well it is up to you to fork it out and not burden a friend or family member with your lofty requests. Seemed like a good idea. Then you don't seem like your greedy demanding or expecting gifts. :)

Personally I am not fond of office birthday parties. But most of the staff responds well and enjoys the planning and execution of these events.

I don't mind a simple cake for people's birthdays (cause I love cake) but I don't like having to go out to lunch and doing gifts.

It's nice if everyone shows up....however, usually it's the indians and not the chiefs...that sucks.
