JSA claim?
I found out my claim for the dole was sanctioned a while ago. So I made two applications: one for hardship, one for jobseekers. They made no correspondance so after a few weeks I went in to ask them what was going on with the claim.

They turn round to me and have the cheek to say I'm not entitled to anything because I didn't sign on. But they didn't tell me anything about that, instead they sent me a letter saying my rate was going UP! How am I supposed to know when to sign on if I'm making a whole new claim? This stinks, they wrote to me explicitly saying I have money coming in and then they don't pay it. What can I do? Can I take them to court?

Write a letter to the Decision maker take it into your job centre and get them to sign for it (cos they tend to lose things) explaining the facts. could take up to 6 weeks to sort out !!good luck!!!!

When you signed on they must have given you a date to see the advisor? in the mean time make an appeal against their decision and then apply for a crisis loan explaining to them that you have applied for JSA, they need to give you something even if its the bare minimum. If you have luck with the crisis loan you will need to do this every 2 weeks until its sorted Good luck ( the crisis loan people will ask what your hardship is, you will starve as you have no money for food, no family etc and nobody to help you )

they got you all ends up. my sister, [sorry for going off on one] she's 53 this year, well this so called government, who let you release use your company pension, due to the slump in the pension market, to buy property, namely buy to let, well this is what she did, lo and behold, when she becomes unwell, and has to sign on, going through the same rigmarole as you. what do they tell her?. sorry your not entitled, the house your letting out, is classed as unearned income, even though all the income goes to the building society and she is actually £15 worse off a month, because interest rates have gone up. she gets £70 per month from the pension, this is all she is expected to live on,, so all you people out there, be forewarned. unless you can afford to gamble with the property market, don't even go there, asylum seekers fare better than my sister, and she has worked since she was 15

You could lodge an appeal. But I've lodged 5 appeals over the last 2 years. I'm still waiting for a date for the hearings.

Go to citizens advice they are very good.
