I looked at the site below and I couldn't believe how many negative ads there are, people must fall for them or they wouldn't play them right? I think we should boycott the ones that do.

I think it does make people think. In last years election 2 people were running for a Senate seat, one was in the house and the other founded a major company. The Liberal ran a clean race and Conservative did not ( and did not respond to the mud). The Liberal won. I do think even if the Conservative had run a clean race he would have lost but the race would have been closer.

I hope people are smarter than all of that. Apathy and stupidity are two words that come to mind when it comes to informed voting. When the mudslinging starts, it's hard to tell the truth from the mud. It's difficult enough to try to figure out where each candidate stands on issues. I miss living in a two newpaper town. Each paper stood for a different party so all was covered from different points of view.

Yes, this is part of why Obama has risen so quickly. He has denounced mudslinging and partisanship. In the Illinois Senate, he worked with both Republicans and Democrats in passing legislation. Granted, this will be harder to do in Washington, but it is worth a try.

"The pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them too. We worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don't like federal agents poking around in our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and yes, we got some gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported the war in Iraq. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America."

This is unfortunately a method of politics. These methods do work, for some people, and very rarely will a person not vote for that candidate simply because he threw a mud-slinging add. Its all politics, my friend, and while it may be looked down upon by some, its still considered ethical.

Yes!

I make it a special point to vote against these people!

Evidently a lot of folks do also - which probably explains why the Republicans lost in the last election!

It would be nice, but then you would have to boycott ALL the major candidates.
