Some newer rock singers have begun singing really high, the singer for "The Darkness" is a good example. Also, John Frusciante of the Chili Peppers has been singing backup vocals in this range for years. Do you all think that Brian Johnson of AC/DC also falls into this category?

Actually, men have it easier than women getting into the high falsetto range ( mostly because ours is yet another octave higher, and nobody writes stuff up there:)) You can imagine the sound very easily- how did you sound when you were five years old? It was lightweight, slender, and had no power to it. (although when we listen to 5yr olds yelling and screaming, it sure feels like it'll cut through glass, doesn't it?)
Try feeling how your voice gradually moves up from the middle register ( nowadays referred to as modal register) and gets thinner and lighter as you go up the scale. Be sure to keep your throat easy and open, your lower jaw hanging slightly loose ( as in the word duh) so the sound can just float out without any pushing or "helping" from your neck, throat and tongue muscles.
It should not take you by surprise.
Don't forget, the guys who sing this way are also rather heavily miked, so that slender sound comes across being a lot louder than it really is. Please keep the idea lightweight in mind. To hear someone who has really beefed up their falsetto voice, you want to listen to some Baroque music with countertenors singing. They take that small sound and work away at it for years, creating a sound that doesn't need a mike.
have fun
and keep on singing

My best advice, is either sit down with a guitar/piano or even the CD of the song you want to sing, and just practice.

Singing falsetto can be very difficult and matching key can be tough.

The only way you are going to be able to get it down is the practice. If you are able to hit the note that you want, just keep hitting it over and over again, and eventually it will come natural.

If the note is out of your range, keep working on singing, and "stretching" your vocal chords. Work on both your highs and lows. Going through the scale and matching pitch with the keys on the piano / guitar.

The crazy thing is though, the lead singer from The Darkness doesn't sing in Falsetto. His voice is just naturally that high.
