After my c-section when my son was born i was on strong pain medication where i have developed a serious addiction in the last year. I am now working in quiting and i was just wondering if many other women have gone through the same thing. The meds gave me energy and relieved all the pains of being a new mom. As my son got older and bigger (1 year and 27lbs) i continued to take the medication. My husband had no clue and i finally told him last night. He is helping me, but i just want to know if i am the only mommy that has gone through this.

Ok, i am not doctor shopping or doing anything illegal. I have been getting the pills from my dad. He does not know about it because he is prescribed so many and he does not notice that i take them. I am already seeking help, i just want to know if other mothers have gone through this because of giving birth.

Well Done You.! You've taken a very positive step in admitting you're addicted in the first place. You are not alone......but few people have the guts to admit their problem. It is great that you have help from you're husband. It wont be easy, but keep going. You'll make it. Any addiction can be broken. Don't beat-yourself -up for allowing it to happen. We all have problems. You're certainly not the 1st this has happened to.

No, you are not unique. Everyone is susceptible to addiction--it doesn't matter who you are or what you do.

It's hard to be on narcotics for a year--either you're doctor shopping or one doctor has been giving you way too many prescriptions. Either way, you need to stop before you get into legal trouble, as well. Check yourself into rehab. Now.
