I want to post some short clips from a DVD on youtube (the clips would be less than 10 minutes in length), and I'm not sure how to do it. Does anyone know how? Would I need special software or anything to convert it?

It's not from a movie, it's from a music DVD... I think the rules would be a little looser aroud that, since it'd almost be like a music video.

Well, you have to be able to rip the data off of the DVD. To do this you could use a program like "DVD Shrink".

Though, I can tell you right now that if those clips are off a DVD movie, they will be copywrighted and youtube will probably delete it fairly quickly.
