For centuries it's been a union of man and woman, male and female, yin and yang. But now it's been made a joke of. It's bad enough that the divorce rates are so high.

Why can't gay people just enter a civil union and preserve our traditions?

PS: I'm not a Christian or religious so don't go thinking I'm asking this because I think gays are going to all burn in hell.

Yes, they further help to make it a joke....but with a 50% divorce rate, us straights have done the most to make it a joke.....every woman out there is just about me me me...and if you dont like it....welll ....i will just divorce you and take half your stuff...Im not sure if the homos are going to burn in hell, but it would be best if we try to preserve marriage as one of the last decent bastions of morality, while we are still able

Marriage is garbage anyways, so why not let the gays get married...it really means nothing in the end when we all die..

The only reason why I think gays should get married is so that they can get the same benefits that marriage offers...Like if one spouse dies their children can get that spouses financial benefits like S.S...We arent just punishing the gay couple by not letting them marry, we're also punishing their children.

it may be a change from tradition, but that's what social progress is. they aren't making a joke of it, they are trying to gain the seriousness of it.
traditions should be changed if they aren't fair. it was tradition to have slaves in the past. it was tradition that women didn't vote & could legally be beaten & raped by their husbands, it was tradition that a woman could not seek a divorce even if she was treated as such.
just becasue it's tradition doesn't make it right.

it will still be the tradition for two adults who love each other to get married and legally become family for each other, to be there for each other thru thick & thin. isn't that the most important?

Straight people have already degraded the importance of marriage...k?

I think the gay community should be allowed to marry, they may actually put more into their marriages that straight people.

I think love is love, not matter who is loving who. Just be happy people are happy.
