Some people believe that, when primitve man relied on visual stimulus rather than language, that yawning was done by the leader of a group to signify that it was time to sleep. But the truth is, no one knows for sure. Your guess is as good as mine.

It's like whales singing deep in the ocean to find another whale.

Subconsciously you activate the "lazy gene" and it sends out sub-harmonic waves that can travel thousands of miles seeking out another compatible "lazy gene". The appropriate response is a "return yawn" signaling acceptance that a "lazy pod" should be formed.

Good hunting !

A yawn is involuntary,
meaning that this is something that cannot be done on purpose.
If you want to give a secret code,
you have to be able to give the code with no control over it.

DAtes back to prehistoric times when the cave-people would put their clan to bed. Instead of clocks they yawned as a signal for it to be time for bed and the yawn travelled from person to person until they all went to bed---totally true I heard it on the radio

It has to do with the need for oxygen. When you see someone yawn, instinctively you want oxygen, so you yawn too.

Yes. If you yawn and a person yawns back at you, it means that they are an evil murderer ready to set off a bomb that will kill the world.

Or it means they're tired.
