Well, speaking dog to dog I would have to say that most of the humans I have come in contact with are unstable. The problem is that a good boss knows how to vent out his stress in other places other than his personnel. I don't know much about micro-managing so I would choose the job with the unstable manager and work on creating a good pack leader.

mentally unstable. People who micromanage get on my nerves because they are always looking over your shoulder or trying to do your job for you. I know my job and can do it very well and would rather have a mentally unstable manager who leaves me alone.

I would choose the Micro manager, because I could predict that type of behavior, and plan to accommodate it.
There's no saving you if you become the target of a mentally unstable person who lives every single day hanging on a tenuous thread between liking you and hating your guts.

Mentally unstable...that way whenever she is not unstable you can tell her things like: If I promise not to do it again will you stop hitting me with that spatula? or Where did you say I had to sign to get that million dollars you offered to give me?
har har...it would be more fun...

Mentally unstable people can be kind of fun. My boss always got drunk during employee lunches.
And look at your cute "Top Contributor" thingy by your name.

I've had both and the micro-managers bug me much less. I just figure that's their own little idiosyncrasy and I don't let it bother me.
