I feel you. I also don't feel comfortable doing it just because I always think sucking the nipple as a sexual act. It just seems weird for me. Maybe when I have kids ill have a different view , but for now it seems disgusting.

Lots of things seem "nasty" when you look at them out of context. Childbirth is also pretty nasty when you think about it, and until you experience it you just don't understand the beauty of it. But within the context of the mother-child relationship breastfeeding feels very natural. Luckily for you, when the time comes, you have a choice not to breastfeed if you still feel that way.

Now answers are depending on your age.
If you're young like before expecting a child - it all seems queasy and weird when you think of it but even the actual act of love-making grosses some people & this is just providing nourishment to the child you've conceived naturally and once you experience it.. antenatal classes and the life-altering experience of just holding the little one in your arms will make you feel how wrong you are.
If you're already breast-feeding: check with an understanding doctor/nurse who'll help you get through this phase of baby blues. Try to make it as soothing by holding the little one even closer, and notice its innocence through the tiny features. This may distract u from the actual act of nursing the little one and bring you both closer!
Lots of luck!

There's nothing at all wrong with you. I was not a breastfed baby because my mother (and many, many others her age) did not breastfeed their children -- not an appealing option, poor public view of it, lack of support in the 70s/ 80s. I never had a desire to breastfeed until I got pregnant and started to read about it more. I learned that it has so many health benefits for the baby and for the mother. You lose weight quickly, the baby gets anitbodies to help prevent infections, allergies and other illnesses and the mother's risk of breast cancer is decreased. I decided to give it a shot and if I didn't like it or wasn't comfortable, I would stop. Luckily for me and my son, it was very successful. He nursed for eight months and I would have done it longer, but with my husband on military duty, working full time etc. I wasn't able to keep up after that. One extra health benefit for me personally was that I had fibrocystic breast disease from the time I was in 7th grade. I was worried I wouldn't be able to nurse, but it didn't stop me and now it's completely gone! I don't think that would have happened it I didn't nurse. Don't let anyone bully you into thinking you HAVE to nurse. I would only suggest that you give it good thought and be comfortable with your own decision when your baby is born. Good luck!

i think b/c we live in a time where you can just go to the store and buy milk for your baby, breastfeeding seems out of the norm.
you see in the news women getting kicked off airplanes b/c they breastfeed w/o covering themselves. and people getting upset b/c a 2 year old is breastfeeding, when other places around the world breastfeed up to 5 years old.
so, no, theres nothing wrong with you. times are changing and people are changing. although i think theres nothing wrong with breastfeeding, im considering it myself.

Nothing wrong with you at all. One a lot of women today don't breastfeed for that reason though most will not admit it. It is understandable with most of us having been raised with moms that bottles as it was easier and new. It is only now that the benefits of breast feeding are really being put out there as well. And your feelings may change when you have kids if you don't already.

breastfeeding is the most natural thing a mother can do, there's nothing nasty about it. all doctors agree that breast milk is the healthiest option for babies, and it's also an incredible bonding experience between mothers and babies. i'll never forget the first time i breastfed, it was an amazing experience that i'll cherish forever. but if you decide you don't want to breastfeed, that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that.

Some people have a negative look at breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant you might want to talk to your OB, let her know your thoughts and see if she can refer you to a lactation consultant.
Breastfeeding is a way to feed, nurture and provide for your infant.
Look into it and try to think about why you have negative feelings toward it.

What do you think boobs are there for? The entertainment of male companions. NOPE! Weird.. maybe a little.. i know ppl who choose not to breastfeed but it being 'disgusting' isnt thier reason. Its a natural thing. You done cring when you see baby dogs 'feeding' of thier mother etc.. its the SAME concept. What do you think mothers did before formula came around? :P

Well I felt the same way until I did it. Breast milk is better for the baby and it helps your body as well. If you are thinking of it as something sexual, then yes something is wrong with it you.
