Republican campaigning is contrary to the healthy purpose of political discussion, like the Swift Boat lies and other commercials used against Kerry in 2004 which distorted how Kerry's service medals were created. The distortions were all lies! I suggest Democratics create simular tar and slime commericials and cute little sayings.
Maybe the Democrats could create a saying for the 08 election for President that smears their nominee and places a little jingle in the puplics ear for the purpose of making it catchy and easy to remember . All lies of course. And use it late. Please try to create one or two!
This may sound a little prejudice on my part, but do you remember the lies about Senator Musky that derailed his campaign for the presidency? I do! Do you remember Lee Atwater? Bush W. worked under Lee Atwater and learned the skills effective decent and character assassination first hand. Atwater on his death bed appoligized. GW. Bush and Karl Hove have not appologized, yet!

Look at campaigns in the last two centuries. It does seem that the Republicans are better at the lies and dirty tricks than the Democrats. But, in all fairness to the GOP the Democrats have done a little of that too. Today we have a master of lies, shenanagans, and dirty tricks and he happens to be on the Republican side. His name is Karl Rove. He is the present day architect of all that crap. His days of control are numbered, however as I see mainstream Republicans taking back their party and in 20 or so years, after things are cleaned up they can win again. Rove will be gone and maybe even much of the lies and dirty tricks.

If Dukakis releases a rapist on furlough, and that rapist strikes again.......how is it unfair for republicans to announce that Dukakis did something stupid like that?

Only in the mind of the dems is it "fair play" to go after republiucans for stupid stuff, but when they go after democrats it is racism and other hogwash.

The swiftboat veterns served with John Kerry. That is not in dispute. They earned their right to say whatever they wanted, just like the veterns who got on the stage and hung out with John Kerry got to do what they wanted to do.

Not all of what the swift boaters said was distortions and lies, thought there were some embillisments. Ford in Tenessee is a classic example.

Repubs run an add talking about how ford went to a playboy party. because there was a white woman in the add, obviously republicans were racists. It was unfair to criticize ford for going to the playboy add because to criticize a black democrat is racist.

yet when it comes to swan in penn., and demcrats throw oreo cookies at him, that is fair and good sport.

The only future for blacks is to stop voting for republicans and democrats and to form our own power block. consolidation wil stop the dems from taking us for granted, as they do, and will compell the repubs to earn our votes.

You should start being fair and balanced today, if you haven't been all along.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you

All those are true but unfortunately politicians do not heed the most important - Honesty is the best policy.

In order to have a healthy democracy, debate must prevail and if you are not fair and balanced, there will be no debate, just fighting.

Ultimately you have to look at both parties, and like most democratic systems, they are both flawed and have their ugly sides. Criticize FAIRLY or don't criticize at all.

BTW...I voted for Al Gore BUT I am educated and know that educated people are able to sit down and have a genuine debate - unfortunately too many people fail to realize that "educated" is not a reference to a college degree.

Simular things? Like when the media had a field day claiming Bush had no success and left the Air Force?

Both parties lie. It's a sad reality. It's not exclusive to Republicans or Democrats.

So, what you are saying is that since one side of an argument stoops, that it is okay for the other side to cease being noble, and degenerate, as well? That's a real winner of an idea... NOT!
